Lawyers need to sharper their skills on cyber laws: Hooda

Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that globalisation had thrown many challenges to the legal professionals in India.

Speaking at a Regional Conference on the ''Changing Scenario of Legal Profession in the context of Globalisation'' organised by the Indian Association of Lawyers, he said.

There were several untouched streams such as cyber crimes, internet banking frauds and sophisticated white collar and terror crimes. ''These were few of the challenges looking straight in the eyes of legal fraternity and the country, which was poised to become a developed country in the near future, was fully prepared to face these challenges,'' Mr Hooda noted.

Noting that the judiciary in the country was the strongest in the world, the Chief Minister said that liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation had thrown new challenges to the members of the legal fraternity.

Lawyers were required to widen their knowledge and skill in the use of computer and information technology which would certainly add new dimensions to their skills and profession, he added.

The conference was inaugurated by Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Vijender Jain while former Governor of Kerala, S S Kang presided over the conference.

Those present on the occasion included Judges from High Court of Punjab and Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and office-bearers and Members of the Indian Association of Lawyers.
