Judge arrested for abetting wife's suicide

Rajkot, Mar 10 (UNI) A Judicial Magistrate of Jetpur Court has been arrested for allegedly abetting his wife's suicide.

The Judge Nishit Purushottamdas Thakkar was arrested after he surrendered before the Jetpur police last night. He has been sent to the Rajkot Central jail here, police sources said.

The Judge's mother-in-law, in her complaint, had alleged that the accused, his father, aunt and three sisters had abetted her daughter Archana Thakkar's suicide over dowry demands, sources said.

Achana (30) had set herself ablaze on January one and succumbed to her injuries 10 days later.

A micro-biotechnology student, Archana had married Thakkar six years ago and had a five-year-old son, sources added.

Trader kills daughter, mother: commits suicide

Ahmedabad, Mar 10 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a shopkeeper murdered his mother and two young daughters before committing suicide in Mrudula Park-II society in Sola area on the Western outskirts of the city today. Rajendra Dhanjibhai Patel (37) hanged his two daughters -- Khusali (8) and Nandini (4)--and suffocated his mother Madhuben (60) at his residence this morning. New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani today wanted the government to explain why the information about the detention of Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi was suppressed for about a fortnight till the Assembly elections were over in Uttarakhand and Punjab.
