Haryana, Pak tourism ministers for boosting cultural ties

Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) Haryana Tourism Minister Kiran Choudhry met Pakistan Tourism Minister Nilofar Bakhtiar at Berlin and called for strenthening bilateral cultural ties, official sources said here today.

The meeting between the two leaders followed Ms Nilofar Bakhtiar's visit at the Haryana Tourism pavilion at the ongoing International Tourism Bourse (ITB) at Berlin yesterday.

Ms Choudhry had detailed discussion with Ms Bakhtiar on areas of mutual interest in tourism.

Ms Choudhry also extended an invitation to Pak Tourism Minister to visit Haryana for discussion over the matters of common interest.

The two leaders felt that the cultrual and trade relations could pave the way for having more friendly ties between the two counrties.

Ms Bakhtiar showed keen interest in Surajkund Crafts Mela and the Heritage Festival at Pinjore and expressed her desire to promote the arts and crafts of Pakistan in India through these fairs.

Snow and rain in HP plummet temperatures

Shimla, Mar 10 (UNI) Heavy snow in the higher regions areas and widespread rains in mid and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours have plummeted temperatures in the entire state, met office said today. Higher altitude areas of Kinnuar, Lahaul Spiti, Chamba, Kullu, Shimla, Mandi and Kangra districts experienced fresh spell of heavy snow, while mid and lower hills, including Shimla town, were lashed by rains since early morning. Law Minister expresses concern over female foeticide

Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) Union Law Minister H R Bhardwaj today stressed the need to change the mindset of the people so as to check the menace of female foeticide. Addressing a State Level Legal Literacy Seminar on female foeticide at Kurukshetra in Haryana, the Union Minister also specially urged the doctors not to misuse ultrasound technology as they have been educated to give life and not to kill daughters before their birth. KMP Expresway gets environment clearance

Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) Decks have been cleared for the speedy and timely implementation of the prestigious Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway in Haryana with the project getting environment clearance from the Centre. Mr Rajeev Arora, Managing Director of Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation (HSIIDC), today said the Ministry of Environment and Forests had accorded the environment learance to the project.
