Four held for extortion in Nagaland

Kohima, Mar 10 (UNI) Dimapur police arrested four Manipuri youths for extortion and shooting a minor boy from Golaghat Road area of Dimapur town and recovered one US-made pen pistol from their possession yesterday, official sources said today.

They were demading a sum of Rs 20,000 from a housewife at Naga United Village. When she refused to give the money, they fired but the bullet hit her 14-year-old son and seriously injured him.

The Police also seized one round of .22 ammunition from them.

In another incident, some unidentified gunmen shot at one NSCN-IM cadre at Walford area of Dimapur town. He was rushed to a private nursing home, where he is battling for his life, the sources said.

No microphones for Ram Dev's yoga camp in Kolkata: HC

Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) The Calcutta High Court has rejected a petition seeking permission to use microphones during a six-day yoga camp of Baba Ram Dev starting March 21. A Division Bench of Chief Justice S S Nijjar and Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya rejected the petition yesterday by the Biswa Jagriti Mission, challenging a notice issued by the West Bengal Pollution Control Board. In the notice issued on March 6, the Board had imposed restrictions on using microphones from March 13,.....

Two girls killed in road mishap

Khagaria, Feb 25 (UNI) Two girls were crushed to death by a speeding truck near Matihani village on National Highway 31 under Mansi police station here today. Police said the incident took place when the victims were returning to their residence after collecting fodder. The victims have been identified, police added. UNI.....
