Five, including 2 from UP, killed in road mishaps in Kerala

Kochi, Mar 10 (UNI) Five people, including two men from Uttar Pradesh, were killed and nine people injured in two separate road accidents in Ernakulam and Thrissur districts of Kerala today.

Police said Laloo (27) and Bharat Yadav were killed when a car, driven by a local college student, went out of control and hit the two at Chakaraparambu under Edapally police station in the city this afternoon. One more person, identified as Mohd Kunju (60), was also killed in the mishap.

Four others injured were identified as Unnikrishnan, 32, Basheer, 29, Ashique, 44, and Prema Antony, 34.

The college student was taken into police custody.

In the other incident in Thrissur district, two youngsters from Kochi, were killed and five others injured when their vehicle swerved and hit a roadside while trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle.

The deceased identified as Sunil (25) and Bineesh (23) were on their way to Palakkad from Ernakulam.

MP bypoll: BJP retains Udaypura

Cong wrests Sidhi Lok Sabha seat from BJP by narrow margin

Bhopal, Mar 11 (UNI) In a nail-biting contest, the main opposition Congress emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha by-poll in Sidhi (ST) constituency wresting the seat from the BJP by a wafer-thin margin of 1,586 votes.
