Donate blood and organ to the diseased: Shekhawat

Chittorgarh, Mar 10 (UNI) Emphasising the need for public private partnership for expanding the health care facilities in the state, Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today called for promoting blood and organ donation. Speaking after inaugurating the general hospital at Sawaliyaji temple town here, he said even now a large section of the people in the country were living below the poverty line, and it was a challenge for the civil society to privide education and health care to these poor people. ''The government alone will not succeed in this endovour and a private-public partnership is needed to accomplish this onerous task,'' he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajasthan Health Minister Dr Digambar Singh said the hospital would be equipped with all modern facilities. He said since the hospital was shifted to new premise away from the city, a dispensary would be set up in the city area to cater to the health care needs of the people living in the vicinity.

Retired IAF Officer pays tribute to freedom fighter

Children-given polio drops in capital

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Lakhs of children below five years of age were administered polio vaccine at 7500 Polio booths across the capital today. Around 30,000 workers and employees of the Health Department were pressed into service from 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs to ensure maximum reach. Stalls had been put up up at Railway Stations, ISBTs, Public places, including Appu Ghar, major temples, Metro Stations, Millennium Park, Zoo and Mc Donalds outlets. Over 100 students expelled in Board exams

Shillong, Mar 13 (UNI) Over 100 students appearing for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations have been expelled in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district for using in unfair means during the ongoing examinations. ''We have expelled more than 100 students for using unfair means to qualify the exams,'' state's West Garo district Deputy Commissioner P Sampath Kumar told UNI here over the phone from Tura today. Mr Kumar said most of the students in the plain belt areas.....
