Dena Bank launches new deposit scheme

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Dena Bank has announced the launch of its new deposit scheme - Dena Laxmi Gold Deposit - which offers an interest of 9.25 per cent for a fixed maturity period of 499 days only.

Under the scheme, the minimum deposit amount is Rs 10,000 and further in the multiples of Rs 1,000. There is, however, no limit for maximum deposit, a release here today said.

Besides, a customer can withdraw before the due date on some conditions. Senior citizens will be offered additional interest rate of 0.50 per cent, the release added.

Prohibitory orders clamped in Rajnandgaon

Rajnandgaon, Mar 10 (UNI) Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC have been imposed in entire Rajnandgaon district where Lok Sabha byelection is in progress. Under the prohibitory orders effective till April 2, political parties and candidates will have to seek prior permission for holding election meetings, District Collector R S Vishwakarma said. Ban on public meetings and carrying arms have been banned, he said. Polling in Rajnandgaon is scheduled on March 29 and today is the last date for filing nominations......

Julie, Batuknath join Rangpanchami fete

Ujjain, Mar 10 (UNI) Loveguru Prof Batuknath Choudhary and his lady love Julie joined in the Rangpanchami celebrations here yesterday and applied 'gulal' on each other. ''Age is no bar in love'', they said at a function here last night in which satirists and comedians displayed their skill. Rangpanchami is celebrated across western Madhya Pradesh with religious fervour and enthusiasm on the fifth day of Holi. HC pulls up Women Commission for inaction

Bilaspur, Mar 10 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh High Court has pulled up the state's Women Commission for alleged laxity in a dowry harassment case. Expressing displeasure over the Commission's working, a division bench of Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice Vijay Kumar Shrivastava yesterday asked whether it should write to the government to dismiss the commission for its neglect of constitutional responsibilities. The court directed Commission Chairperson Sudha Varma, who was present, to submit a modified affidavit stating action taken on.....
