CRPF jawan killed, another injured in Kashmir blast

Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) One Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was killed and another was injured in a hand grenade blast in the down town area of the city tonight.

Official sources said militants hurled a hand grenade towards a bunker of 18 CRPF battalion at Qamerwari tonight.

The grenade caused injuries to two CRPF personnel. The injured were admitted to hospital, where constable Hemant Kumar died.

Indian coir exports up by over 50 per cent

Alappuzha, Mar 10 (UNI) Indian coir exports are set to rise by over 50 per cent during 2006-07, exceeding the target of Rs 572 crore set by the Union Textiles ministry, Coir Board chairman A C Jose said today. Addressing a press conference here, Mr Jose said the coir industry was going to achieve an all-time high in exports both in qualitative and quantitiative terms. Fisherman killed, 2 injured in Lankan firing

Chennai, Mar 10 (UNI) An Indian fisherman was shot dead and two others suffered serious bullet injuries, when Sri Lankan Navy opened fire in the high seas early this morning. Reports received here said a group of five fishermen were fishing near Katchatheevu off Indian coast, when the Lankan Navy opened fire, killing Christopher (35), hailing from Pamban, in Rameswaram, on the spot. Two others, Wilver (31) and Sagayaraj (27), sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Rameswaram Government Hospital.....

Police recover dump in Nallamala forest

Mahaboobnagar, Mar 10 (UNI) Police today recovered a dump of spare parts for the Thapanchas used by Naxals in Nallamala forest area at Dildartippa in Kollapur mandal of the district. Based on a tip-off, a police team launched a search operation at Dildartippa in the forest area and seized spare parts of 100 thapanchas concealed in two plastic drums left by Maoists.
