Big Brother racial case dropped

London, Mar 10 (UNI) The case of alleged racism on the celebrity Big Brother show involving Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has been dropped.

No arrests will be made over the racism row, police said yesterday. ''The Crown Prosecution Service has decided that the alleged racist bullying was 'clearly offensive' but not criminal''.

The treatment of Shetty by Jade Goody and other contestants provoked a diplomatic row with India.

''In the absence of complaints from any of the housemates regarding the alleged behaviour, including behaviour that was not broadcast, the CPS has concluded that while what occurred was clearly offensive, it was not criminal'' the Hertfordshire police which investigated the matter, said.

Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, is still investigating the Channel 4 show which prompted 50,000 viewer complaints. The broadcaster brought in an independent QC to review its handling of the 'racist' affair.

Iran assures B'desh of cooperation in oil and petrochemical sectors

Dhaka, Mar 11 (UNI) Iran today assured Bangladesh of considering cooperation in oil and petrochemical, particularly in Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector.
