Andhra Bank CMD inaugurates new branch in AP

Kanipakam, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 10(UNI) The Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Bank K Ramakrishnan today inaugurated a new branch and also the ATM at Kanipakam, known for the renowned temple 'Sri Varasiddi Vinayaga' in Chittoor District.

Addressing the inaugural function, the Chairman promised to extend the financial assistance for the construction of houses for temple priests in the village. The local MLA G Aruna Kumari had allotted the house sites for the priests, he added.

Dr Ramakrishnan, among other officials, offered worship to Lord Vinayaka in the temple.

Students skate with a message

Chennai, Mar 10 (UNI) With an aim at creating awareness among the public on the importance of wearing helmet, the Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School today organised a roller skating programme. More than 100 agile Velammalians, studying in LKG to sixth standard, participated in the programme. Surgery for macaque to restore vision

Coimbatore, Mar 10 (UNI) A lion-tailed macaque with a blurred vision in the Pudhuthottam forest area here, will be 'hospitalised', in the next week, with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department deciding to perform a surgery to remove a tumour from its right eye. Forest Veterinary Officer N S Manoharan told UNI that the male monkey was spotted as having very poor vision with a tumour growing in its right eye.
