Agitation against verdidct continue in Cauvery Basin

Mysore, Mar 10 (UNI) Protest and agitations continued against the final award of Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal in the Cauvery basin districts of Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajanagar today.

At Mandya, the daily wage workers took a procession against the verdict while various religious heads of Mallavalli also participated in the agitiation.

At Srirangapatna, Karnataka Rakashna Vedike President Narayana Gowda led the rally while the farmers and others of Ganjam village staged road blockade( Rastaroko) on the Mysore-Bangalore Highway.

Meanwhile, the Cauvery Rita Rakshna Samithi led by G Made Gowda plans to hold a meeting with farmers and leaders in all in seven taluks of the district to chalk out a future course of action.

Testing centre for Kancheepuram silk sarees set up

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, Mar 10 (UNI) A modern centre to test the purity of Kancheepuram silk sarees and borders has ben set up on behalf of the Kancheepuram Central silk and supervision offices at a cost of Rs one crore. Counting of votes for byelection begins

Bhopal, Mar 11 (UNI) Counting of votes polled for the byelection to the Lok Sabha from Gwalior and Sidhi constituencies and to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly from Udaypura constituency in Raisen district began at 0800 hrs today. About 42 per cent of the electorate exercised their franchise in the March 8 bypoll in Gwalior, 48.87 per cent in Sidhi and 52 per cent in Udaypura.
