Abu Salem's lawyer says he is receiving threatening calls

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Underworld don Abu Salem's lawyer Adv Ashok Sarogi has lodged a complaint with police saying he has been receiving threatening calls from gangster Ravi Poojari who wants him to withdraw from the 1993 serial blasts case.

Adv Sarogi, who is representing Salem in the 1993 serial blasts case as well as in other cases, stated that the calls have emanated from Australia.

In his complaint, Adv Sarogi said he had received two such phone calls so far. The first call was received on February 22 and it was his wife who had taken the call at that time, the lawyer has told the police. ''Tell your husband to withdraw from the 1993 serial bomb blast case, else he will have to face dire consequences,'' the caller threatened.

A similar threat was issued to his sister-in-law over the phone on the very next day, according to the lawyer. Adv Sarogi further told the police that his son has now been receiving ''missed calls'' on his mobile.

The lawyer has, howerver, not sought any police protection but has engaged private security guards on his own.
