Students, public stage stir demanding more teachers

Puducherry, Mar 9 (UNI) The students of the Government Middle School at Sellippattu and the public today locked the school and resorted to a road blockade demanding posting of more teachers in the school.

According to villagers, as many as 350 students were studying in the school and the staff strength was just five as against the required 12. With their repeated pleas for posting of more teachers failing to evoke any welcome initiative, they resorted to the agitation.

On information, police and senior officials of the education department rushed to the spot and held talks with them.

However, they called off the agitation after getting two teachers posted today itself and the authorities promising to post three more tomorrow.

AP Cabinet approves land for auto major

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today approved allocation of 500 acres of land to MLR Motors that has tied-up with General Motors associated company in China Wooling and Auto major Fiat, for setting up a four-wheeler manufacturing facility in the state. The project, which would come up in the Auto Park recognised as Special Economic Zone would provide direct employment to 3,000 workers and indirect employment to more than 5,000 people, official sources here said. Fall in private investment in agriculture

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The government, quoting the Economic Survey 2005-06, today informed Rajya Sabha that the private investment in agriculture (at 1999-2000 prices) has gone down from Rs 38,215 crore in 2001-02 to Rs 30,532 crore (quick estimates) in 2004-05. Minister of State for Agriculture Kanti Lal Bhuria in a written reply said that the share of public investment in agriculture gross investment rose from 18.2 per cent in 2001-02 to 29.2 per cent in 2004-05 according to the.....

'No need for RoC sub centres due to MCA21 implementation'

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The government today said there was no need to open any more sub centres of Registrar of Companies (RoC) in Gujarat other than the one in Ahmedabad following implementation of the e-Governance programme called MCA21 last year. ''There were no complaints of companies facing difficulties in registering their names due to non-availability of sub centre of RoC in Jamnagar, Rajkot and Surat in Gujarat,'' Company Affairs Minister Prem Chand Gupta said in a written reply to.....
