RSS Pracharak commits suicide

Damoh(MP), Mar 9 (UNI) An RSS Pracharak committed suicide by hanging at the Sangh office here last night, police said.

''The body of 32-year-old Ramnarayan Patel was found hanging at the new office of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh here this morning and a suicide note recovered'', police said.

Mr Patel, who was RSS's Gram Sampark Pramukh for the Mahakoshal Pranth, had arrived here yesterday and stayed for the night at the Sangh office, police said, adding he hailed from Patan area of Jabalpur district.

''Dhokha Khane Se Behatar Hai Mar Jana''(It is better to die than be cheated), Mr Patel said his suicide note, expressing his wish to be cremated on the bank of the Narmada river at Gwarighat at Jabalpur, police added.

Senior civil and police officials have reached the spot.

Guj Govt to form SPG to fight terrorism in state

Gandhinagar, Mar 9 (UNI) Concerned with the growing menace of terrorism, Gujarat Government today announced the formation of a Special Protection Group (SPG) to curb terrorist activities. Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah told the legislative Assembly the SPG will be a separate entity and will specifically work to prevent and curb terrorism in the state, bordering Pakistan. Mr Shah made the announcement while replying to a written question by ruling BJP MLA Kantibhai Lakum during Question hour. Mr Shah said.....

Assembly adjourned sine die after 5-day budget session

Panaji, Mar 9 (UNI) The Goa legislative assembly was adjourned sine die today after transacting five-day budget session. Speaker Francisco Sardinha announced the adjournment of the House after thanking members for their active participation, with the current term of the House ending in May. Elections to the 40-member House are likely to be held before the expiry of the term. Over 1100 cases of illegal mineral minings reported in Gujarat

Gandhinagar, Mar 9 (UNI) Gujarat Industry Minister Anil Patel today informed the State Legislative Assembly that over 1100 cases of illegal mineral minings have been reported in the state during last the two years. Mr Patel informed the House the state government has also recovered of Rs 691.87 as fine from these illegal miners in 888 cases.
