NIgerian drug peddler arrested

Pune, Mar 9 (UNI) The Pune rural police has arrested a Nigerian drug peddler in connection with last Sunday's rave party here from where 280 youngsters had been picked up.

The Nigerian, Adekunle Suleman Sule (30), was arrested from Aundh locality here last evening and 38 gms of cocaine, valued at around Rs nine lakh, were seized from him, police said today.

Police said Sule is a regular visitor to India who travelled across the country to peddle drugs.

The Nigerian's name had emerged during investigations into last Sunday's rave party. Two policemen, posing as customers, were sent to Sule and a meeting was arranged to finalise the deal.

Subsequently, Sule was arrested but an accomplice of his managed to escape, police said.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, the city police today seized 1000 kg of ''ganja'' from Hadapsar near here and have arrested a few persons in this conection.

Militants trigger powerful IED in North kashmir

Baramulla, Mar 1 (UNI) Militants made an abortive bid to blow up the headquarter of 15 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) when they triggered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) this morning in north Kashmir. Official sources said militants detonated a powerful IED near the headquarter on the Sopore-Bandipora road at village Kemah at 0730 hrs. Baba Udyanath Maharaj moves ABA, fearing his arrest

Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) Spiritual leader Baba Udyanath Maharaj today filed an Anticipatory Bail Application in a local court, after his name allegedly figured during interrogation of four accused persons, arrested in conspiracy to eliminate a builder over Abhyudaya Nagar Redevelopment issue. Udyanath Maharaj moved the application in the Sessions court. The four accused--Mohammed Jaffer Sheikh, Aslam Khan, Salim Qureshi and Vijay Vadkar--confessed to the police during the interrogation that they were hired by Maharaj to kill Rashimkant Shah.....

Naxals kill 8 people, loot weapons in Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 1 (UNI) Maoists today killed eight people, including four Naga Armed Force (NAF) personnel, by triggering a landmine and also looted weapons near Darbhaguda on the Jagdalpur-Hyderabad road in south Bastar. Inspector-General (Bastar Range) R K Vij told UNI that NAF personnel, accompanied by special police officers (SPOs), were returning after patrol duty at Injaram.
