Maoist posters, leaflets, flags found in Purulia

Purulia, Mar 9 (UNI) A large number of posters, leaflets and flags of Maoist were found at Keroa village of Bolarampur in Purulia district early today.

The extremists, through the leaflets and others, appealed to the villagers of Keroa and Chakbera "not to participate in the forthcoming panchayat elections." Police seized all the leaflets, posters and flags which were lying infront of Keroa and Ghatbera gram panchayat office.

Superintendent of Police (Purulia) Ashok Kumar Prosad admitted the fact and said "police are searching the cause behing the appeal of Maoist." UNI XC ADG RN1813

Mizoram govt urges civil society to participate in governance

Manipur records over 75 per cent polling in final phase

Imphal, Feb 23 (UNI) An estimated 75 per cent of the over 3,50,000 voters exercised their franchise today in the third and final phase of elections to 12 Manipur Assembly constituencies at Churachandpur, Tamenglong and Chandel districts and Jiribam sub-divisions. Satellite transmitter on Olive Ridleys to determine unknown facets

Bhubaneswar, Mar 09 (UNI)In a bid to determine many unknown facets the researchers of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) and the Orissa Forest Department have successfully deployed Platform Terminal Transmitter(PTT) on the rare and endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles. The PTT would determine the distribution, habitat use, migration pattern, seasonal duration and location of Olive Ridley congregations in the Bay of Bengal along the east coast of India.
