Khoth withdraws suspension of Cong leaders in Kar Council

Bangalore, Mar 9 (UNI) Karnataka Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Sacchidanda Khoth today revoked suspension of 37 Congress members to enable proceedings of the House run smoothly from March 14.

In a release issued by the Council Chairman's office here, Mr Khoth said since there was no subject on the agenda, Mr N Thippanna, who discharged the duties as the Chairman, had adjourned the House on February 20 as against the scheduled February 21.

He said he would read out the message sent by Governor T N Chaturvedi on March 14, and urged him to fix a date for conducting election to the Chairman's post.

The Congress members were suspended for the remaining part of the session on that day for vehemently protesting against delay in holding the elections and disrupting the House proceedings.

Rs 1,000 cr allocation for agriculture sector in Kerala budget

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 9 (UNI) Promising Rs 1,000 crore worth developmental activities to revive the agricultural sector, Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac today presented in the state assembly a Rs 138.44 crore deficit Budget for the year 2007-08, targeting an additional resource mobilisation of Rs 248.69 crore. The flourishing tourism sector got a budget allocation of about Rs 100 crore, while the booming Information Technology sector got Rs 70 crore. A sum of Rs 800 crore was set apart for implementing.....

Austria keen to cooperate with Indian industry: Ambassador

Kochi, Mar 9 (UNI) Offering Austria's cooperation in partnering Indian industrial growth, the country's Ambassador Jutta Stefan-Bastl suggested tourism and renewable energy sources as areas of cooperation. Inaugurating the 26th annual convention of the Kerala Management Association here last evening, she said Austria was ready to share its technological 'know-how' with suitable partners in India. Jaya to observe fast on Cauvery issue

Chennai, Mar 9 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today announced that she would observe one-day token fast on March 18 to condemn the Centre and the State Government for ''not initiating'' any step to implement the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal. While she would lead the agitation in the city, AIADMK functionaries and cadres would observe token fast in all district headquarters, demanding the immediate gazette notification of the final award which was got after a 16-year-long.....
