IMA Cadet dies during training

Dehradun, Mar 9 (UNI) An Indian Military Academy cadet today died during ammunition training when a grenade exploded in his hand.

A training instructor was critically injured in the incident.

According to police sources, cadet Beer Singh Tiwari, hailing from Ranchi died on the spot at during ammunition training at the IMA range when a grenade exploded in his hand. Training Instructor Havaldar Vijay Kumar was also seriously injured in the accident. He has been admitted in Dehradun Military Hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

Brigadier BB Sharma of the IMA, terming the incident ''unfortunate'' said that malfunctioning of the grenade mechanism was the reason for the explosion.

TRS, CPI-M walk out of AP assembly over health issue

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) The opposition Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Communist Party of India-Marxist CPI(M) staged a walkout in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in protest against non-functioning of medical equipment and non-filling of vacancies in Government hospitals in the state. Replying to a question by Ch Ramakrishna Reddy of the Congress, Health Minister K Rosaiah admitted that the situation in government hospitals was not up to the mark. UFBU proposes indefinite strike from May 3

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) today announced that it would go on a three-day countrywide strike from March 28, and an indefinite strike from May 3 if the Centre and the Indian Banks Associaton (IBA) failed to concede employees' demands. 11 more TDP members suspended from House

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) Eleven more Telugu Desam Party members were suspended today for stalling the proceedings of the House over newspaper reports that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's relative had purchased land allegedly by force from the 'poor'.
