History-sheeter nabbed

Rajahmundry, Mar 9 (UNI) Police today arrested J Umamaheswara Rao (45) for his involvement in several house-breaking incidents in Tuni Town.

Addressing press persons here, East Godavari SP B Srinivasulu said they recovered Rs 51,000 in cash and 80 sovereigns of gold worth Rs 3.2 lakh from his possession.

Besides, two panchaloha idols worth Rs ten lakh were recovered from Maddi Ramaswamy and his friend Murali Krishna of Chinavagalapudi Village when they were trying to sell them, in an another case.

Police also arrested a gold merchant's car driver Mohan Babu and his accomplice G C Tulasi Rao in connection with a robbery case and recovered Rs 2.25 lakh from them.

Stern action against supporters of LTTE: TN DGP

Chennai, Mar 9 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) D Mukherjee today warned stern legal action against members of political parties or independent outfits lending support to the outlawed Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). OPEC to hold meeting if prices fall - Iran OM

Vidarbha Queen may become operational soon

Nagpur, Feb 25 (UNI) The proposed narrow-gauge heritage tourist train Vidarbha Queen, which will ferry passengers to the Tadoba tiger reserve in Chandrapur district in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region, is expected to become operational soon.
