HC extends stay on dismissal of Dr Venugopal's service

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today extended the stay on the termination of the services of AIIMS Director Dr P Venugopal from his post till May 8, saying that the matter was pending before a Division Bench.

Justice B D Ahmed adjourned the matter and extended the stay on the termination of the services of Dr Venugopal till May 8, the next date of hearing.

Justice Anil Kumar on July 7, 2006 had stayed the move to terminate the job of Dr Venugopal on the ground that the intended action was "vitiated in law" and devoid of the principles of natural justice.

Dr Venugopal had filed a petition challenging the recommendation by AIIMS apex body headed by Union Health Minister Ramadoss to dismiss him.

The Union Health Ministry and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) has challenged the order of the single bench before a double bench.
