Four nominations filed for Palamu bypoll

Daltonganj, Mar 9 (UNI) Four nominations were filed today for the Palamu Parliamentary bypoll slated for March 29, taking the number of candidates to seven so far.

Deputy Commissioner cum Electoral officer Nagendra Prasad Singh said Sudha Choudhary from Samajwadi party, Kameshwar Baitha and his wife Devmani Devi from Bahujan Samaj party and Ravindra Bhuyian from CPI(ML) have filed their nominations.

Nominations by Prabhat Kumar Bhuyian from Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) and Umesh Paswan from the Lokjanshakti Party were filed yesterday.

The last date for filing nomination is tomorrow. Scrutiny will take place on March 12 and the last date of withdrawal is March 14.

The result would be declared on April one.

The by-election was necessitated after Mr Manoj Bhuiyan(RJD) lost his Lok Sabha seat following the cash-for-query scam.

SP takes lead in announcing candidates for UP elections

Lucknow, Mar 9 (UNI) Eventhough just four days are left for the start of poll process for the first phase of assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, still no party, except for the ruling Samajwadi Party, has released the names of the candidates for the 62 seats at will start. Campaign in Beas assembly constituency ends this evening

Amritsar, Mar 9 (UNI) A security umberlla has been thrown in the Beas assembly constituency where campaigning comes to an end this evening. The 1,42,089 voters will exercice their franchise march 11. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the polling day at all the 129 booths in this largely rural constituency. Arunachal CM urges PM for higher allocation

Itanagar, Mar 8 (UNI) Chief Minister Gegong Apang has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to provide higher fund allocation to Arunachal Pradesh.
