Dacoit killed in encounter

Bhind(MP), Mar 9(UNI) Dacoit Dinesh Sharma alias Pandit, who carried a reward of Rs 15,000, was shot dead in an encounter with police in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh early this morning.

Superintendent of Police Niranjan said the encounter with Dinesh, a resident of Etawa in Uttar Pradesh, took place in the ravine near village Rani Virgawan in Phoof police station area in this district, His three accomplices managed to escape.

According to Mr Niranjan, dacoit Dinesh, who was wanted in about two dozen cases of murder, loot and kidnapping, escaped during an encounter in November last year, when his two accomplices were killed.

Assembly adjourned sine die after 5-day budget session

Panaji, Mar 9 (UNI) The Goa legislative assembly was adjourned sine die today after transacting five-day budget session. Speaker Francisco Sardinha announced the adjournment of the House after thanking members for their active participation, with the current term of the House ending in May. Over 1100 cases of illegal mineral minings reported in Gujarat

Gandhinagar, Mar 9 (UNI) Gujarat Industry Minister Anil Patel today informed the State Legislative Assembly that over 1100 cases of illegal mineral minings have been reported in the state during last the two years. Mr Patel informed the House the state government has also recovered of Rs 691.87 as fine from these illegal miners in 888 cases. Gujarat MPS unhappy over budget allocation to State

Ahmedabad, Mar 9 (UNI) In a presentation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a group of MPs from Gujarat have expressed displeasure over the gross injustice meted to the State in the Union Budget for 2007-08. The MPS said after the budget presentation they found injustice was being done to the State by the UPA government at the Centre, as several economic issues remained unsolved.
