Complainant says he gave in to pressure tactics by BJP leaders

Sangli, Maharashtra, Mar 9 (UNI) In a new twist to the issue of a FIR against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, complainant Panchakshar Mahadev Jangam today registered a case against three BJP leaders, including national spokesperson Prakash Jawadekar, for pressuring him to register the complaint.

Mr Jangam, in his complaint, stated that BJP Sangli District President Rajaram Garud, BJP leader Neeta Kelkar and Mr Jawadekar had kidnapped him, threatened and forced him to register a complaint against Mr Patil, Tasgaon police sources said.

After registering complaint against Mr Patil, these leaders picked him up again and kept in a hotel room at Sangli, he said and urged the police to withdraw his complaint against Mr Patil, sources said.

A case has been registered with the Tasgaon police against the three leaders under sections 341, 342, 363, 365 and 506(34) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), sources added.

Mr Jangam, a Shiv Sena candidate for Panchayat Samiti elections from Dongarsoni constituency of Tasgaon tehsil in Sangli district, in his complaint registered yesterday against Mr Patil and newly joined leader in the NCP Mr Sanjay Patil and another person, had charged them of using pressure tactics to force him to withdraw from the fray to get their own candidate elected.

Naxals kill 8 people, loot weapons in Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 1 (UNI) Maoists today killed eight people, including four Naga Armed Force (NAF) personnel, by triggering a landmine and also looted weapons near Darbhaguda on the Jagdalpur-Hyderabad road in south Bastar. Inspector-General (Bastar Range) R K Vij told UNI that NAF personnel, accompanied by special police officers (SPOs), were returning after patrol duty at Injaram. HC allows filling of vacancies by Mah govt

Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today vacated the earlier stay and allowed the Maharashtra government to fill up more than one lakh vacancies in various government departments. The order will also allow many semi-government bodies to fill up more than 1,40,000 vacancies in their establishments. Haryana adds 16 lakh tonne rice to Central pool

Chandigarh, Mar 1 (UNI) The Haryana government has delivered 16.24 lakh tonnes of rice to the Central pool so far this season. Of this, 12.32 lakh tonnes of rice has been delivered by the six government procurement agencies besides the millers have contributed 3.91 lakh tonnes of rice in the Central pool, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today. He said HAFED had contributed 5.47 lakh tonnes of rice followed by Food and Supplies Department 3.67 lakh tonnes, Agro Industries Corporation.....
