City people throng Banjara house of Hasan Ali

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) Curious Hyderabadis today thronged the house of horse trader Hassan Ali Khan here, a day after Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate officials raided his residences in Pune and Bombay for allegedly having unaccounted wealth of Rs 35,000 crore.

Photographers and media personnel made a beeline to the house of Khan at Road number one of Banjara hills, a posh locality in the city.

However, his wife Meherunnisa Begum, who stays in the house, claimed that she had divorced him in 1999 and showed the divorce papers to media personnel.

Khan, originally a small businessman in the city, made it big after shifting to Pune.

Income Tax officials here said they had no information, as the raids were conducted by Pune officials.

Govt ready for any discussion on Quattrocchi: PM

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the UPA government was ready for any discussion on the Quattrocchi issue. ''We are not afraid of entering into any discussion. We have done no wrong,'' the Prime Minister said in the Rajya Sabha after the opposition demanded a clarification from the Prime Minister's ''impromptu press conference'' outside Parliament on February 27. The Prime Minister reiterated that by speaking outside Parliament, he did not mean to show disrespect to any.....

IT raids on builder premises in AP temple town

Tirupati, Mar 9 (UNI) Income Tax sleuths raided the houses and office belonging to a prominent city-based builder in the temple town today. According to official sources here, IT Department sleuths from Hyderabad along with local officials conducted raids at various places, including Chinna Bazaar where the builder, Mr Rajashekara Gupta's residence was located. The searches were still on and unaccounted money may run into several crore, according to sources. The exact amount can be determined only after the searches were.....

House lauds Jindal for winning gold, wishes luck to Team India

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today congratulated MP Naveen Jindal for winning a gold medal in skeet shooting at an event in Jaipur and wished luck to Team India for the World Cup. Mr Chatterjee congratulated the young MP on behalf of the House for winning a gold medal in the skeet shooting at the Fifth Sardar Sajjan Singh Sethi Memorial Masters Shooting Competition held in February at the Oasis Ranges in Jaipur.
