Cabinet nod for MoU with PHFI

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh cabinet today approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) to set up the Indian Institute of Public Health at Hyderabad with an initial capital investment of about Rs 120 crore.

The institute would be one among five such institutes being established by PHFI across the country, to strengthen public health system, conducting training programmes for enhancing capacity of public health functionaries, facilitate design and delivery of effective health programme and research in the areas of public health, official sources said.

Under the MoU, the state government agreed to provide 50 acres of government land in Premavathipet village, Rajendranagar Mandal and Rangareddy district, in addition to meeting 25 per cent of the cost of the project.

'No need for RoC sub centres due to MCA21 implementation'

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The government today said there was no need to open any more sub centres of Registrar of Companies (RoC) in Gujarat other than the one in Ahmedabad following implementation of the e-Governance programme called MCA21 last year. ''There were no complaints of companies facing difficulties in registering their names due to non-availability of sub centre of RoC in Jamnagar, Rajkot and Surat in Gujarat,'' Company Affairs Minister Prem Chand Gupta said in a written reply to.....

RJD makes its mark in Manipur, Speaker licks dust

Imphal, Feb 27 (UNI) The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) made its presence felt in Manipur when its candidate Hellaluddin Khan humbled Speaker Maniruddin Sheikh of the Congress by a margin of 280 votes. 'No proposal for takeover of MECON by SAIL'

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Government today denied any proposal for the takeover of leading metallurgical consultant MECON Ltd by Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL). Stating this, Minister of State for Steel Akhilesh Das said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha that MECON was an independent public sector enterprise, engaged in consultancy and project management jobs ranging from metal, power, oil and gas.
