Box "N"depot receives ISO 9001-2000 certificate

Durgapur, Mar 9 (UNI) The Box "N" Depot of Eastern Railway at Andal, 15 kms from here, has been awarded with ISO 9001-2000 certificate for its performance related to Quality Management System (QMS).

Eastern Railway's General Manager Narendra Kumar Goel received the certificate from the representative of British Standard Institute Pvt Ltd at a function here today.

Mr Goel said Box "N" depot achieved "zero" neutral rejection during the last one and half years. He also informed that a total of 978 wagons were modified here till February by providing additional springs.

He also informed that monthly Regular Overhaulling (ROH) target had been enhanced by the Railway Board at 345 wagons per month during 2007-08 from its present target of 280 wagons per month.

There is also planning for acquiring ISO-14000 in future, he added.

Eastern Railway's chief mechanical engineer H C Joshi and Divisional Railway Manager A K Rawal were also present on the occasion.

Chandigarh, Feb 23 (UNI) A keen contest is expected in the Valtoha Assembly constituency in Punjab where the polling is slated tomorrow. About 1,18,796 voters will decide the electoral fortune of five candidates who are contesting the election in the constituency where polling was postponed earlier to February 24 due to the death of CPI candidate. Hardoi, Feb 24 (UNI) The administration has issued notices against Uttar Pradesh sports minister R K Chaudhary and Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Vishram Singh Yadav for violating election code of conduct.
