BMC Alumni Assn donates Rs 5 cr for a modern obstetric hospital

Vadodara, Mar 9 (UNI) Baroda Medical College Alumni Association of North America (BMCAANA) has donated Rs 5 crore to Gujarat government for construction of a new state-of-the-art obstetric building in the premier SSG civil hospital here.

Chief minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Rs 5 crore project at a function scheduled to be held on March 11, association president Dr Ajit Kothari today said.

Dr Kothari said that the new 250-bed modern obstetric four-storeyed hospital building work would be completed within one year and help upgrade health services to poor patients.

Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) Maternal uncle of a teenager was arrested this morning on charges of rape at Dahisar in western suburbs here. Police said accused Kamlesh (27), maternal uncle of the victim, his 14-year-old niece was arrested for raping thrice her in December last year at Dahisar in western suburbs. The matter came to light when the victim complained of abdominal pain and vomitting to her parents late last night. She was rushed to a hospital where doctors diagnosed.....

A major fire broke out at Electric transmission station

Bhuj, Mar 9 (UNI) Electricity supply in the Anjar area was disrupted due to a major fire that broke out in the Central transmission station here last night, causing demages upto Rs three crore. The fire broke out, when a fault occured in the transmission lines. Nearly 20,000 liter diesel stored in the transmission station also burnt in the fire. The electricity supply was restored early this morning. Fire tenders from Kandla ports were able to control the fire within.....

Police seized charas, held one person

Rajkot, Mar 9 (UNI) The police seized charas valued at about rupees 35,000 and arrested one person from the city yesterday. Acting on a tip off, the police party raided the house of Bachu Kanji in Mafatiyapara area and recovered 586 gram charas from the place. Police also seized cash rs 1200 from Bachu and arrested him under the Narcotics act. The accused confessed to the police that he used to purchase the substance from a person residing in Surat and.....

Rajkot, Mar 9 (UNI) A middle-aged man allegedly axed to death his wife over some petty issue and later hanged himself to death at Wankaner town of the district. Police said the incident came to light when Bhupat, son of the deceased, Kanjibhai (50), returned from work yesterday and found his parents dead in the room at Milplot area of Wankaner town. The body of the woman was found lying in a pull of blood while the husband's body was found.....

Scorpio worth Rs 9.5 lakh stolen

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) The incidence of car theft is on the rise in the metropolis since last couple of weeks as Kalachowki police today registered a case of theft of a Scorpio car worth Rs 9.5 lakh from Parel Tank road, Abhyudaya Nagar in south central Mumbai. The complainant, Anil Singh, a businessman said in his First Information Report (FIR), at around 2330 hours, he had parked his vehicle near Parel Tank post office and went home. This morning.....
