BJP MLA walks out of Jharkhand Assembly

Ranchi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Jharkhand Assembly today witnessed an uproar between the treasury bench and opposition members over the issue of separation of 86 bastis from the Tata lease following walkout by senior BJP legislator Saryu Rai after his supplementary question on the matter was not answered.

Replying to a question, State Revenue Minister Dulal Bhuyian admitted that at the time of Tata lease a contract of awarding ownership to the 86 bastis in Jamshedpur was signed between the state government and the Tatas.

He said the encroached bastis located on the leased land would be identified by the state government or its authorised authority and company with the help of sublessee.

He said all the bastis were separated according to schedule five adding appendix E1 had been prepared whose survey was being carried out. The survey of appendix-d land would be initiated after getting suggestion of Tatas and approval by the sublessee, he added.

Dissatisfied with the government's reply, Opposition members started asking supplementary questions.

But the questions of BJP MLA Saryu Rai remained unanswered following which he walked out of the House.

Intervening into the matter, Mr P N Singh (BJP) said that every member should be answered and therefore Mr Rai should be called back.

Mr Rai was then called into the House after Speaker Alamgir Alam asked parliamentary affairs minister Stephen Marandi to look into the matter.
