Baba Udyanath Maharaj moves ABA, fearing his arrest

Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) Spiritual leader Baba Udyanath Maharaj today filed an Anticipatory Bail Application in a local court, after his name allegedly figured during interrogation of four accused persons, arrested in conspiracy to eliminate a builder over Abhyudaya Nagar Redevelopment issue.

Udyanath Maharaj moved the application in the Sessions court.

The four accused--Mohammed Jaffer Sheikh, Aslam Khan, Salim Qureshi and Vijay Vadkar--confessed to the police during the interrogation that they were hired by Maharaj to kill Rashimkant Shah of Vijay Developers.

The four had allegedly arrived to make a bid on the life of Mr Shah, who was vying for a lucrative contract.

A rival group, too, was interested in securing the same contract.

It had allegedly hired the services of the three sharp-shooters, through Vadkar, to eliminate Mr Shah.

The matter will come up for hearing on Monday before Additional Sessions Judge P V Bavkar.

Haryana adds 16 lakh tonne rice to Central pool

Chandigarh, Mar 1 (UNI) The Haryana government has delivered 16.24 lakh tonnes of rice to the Central pool so far this season. Of this, 12.32 lakh tonnes of rice has been delivered by the six government procurement agencies besides the millers have contributed 3.91 lakh tonnes of rice in the Central pool, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today. He said HAFED had contributed 5.47 lakh tonnes of rice followed by Food and Supplies Department 3.67 lakh tonnes, Agro Industries Corporation.....

Bharat Shah threats: anticipatory bail plea of three rejected

Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) A local court today rejected the anticipatory bail applications of three directors of Royal Palms Private Limited here in connection with the alleged threat calls received by diamond merchant and film financier Bharat Shah. The court rejected the applications on the grounds that it was premature to entertain such applications. Cong walkout over broken wheat purchase

Raipur, Mar 1 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh Assembly today witnessed uproarious scenes after the opposition Congress alleged that dalia (broken wheat), worth about Rs 160 crore, was purchased without inviting tenders and staged a walkout demanding an inquiry. Replying to a question by Mr Bhupesh Baghel (Cong), Women and Child Welfare Minister Lata Usendi said that steps were being taken to make arrangements from April for supply of supplementary nutrition in anganwadis as the Supreme Court had directed not to employ contractors.....
