Austria keen to cooperate with Indian industry: Ambassador

Kochi, Mar 9 (UNI) Offering Austria's cooperation in partnering Indian industrial growth, the country's Ambassador Jutta Stefan-Bastl suggested tourism and renewable energy sources as areas of cooperation.

Inaugurating the 26th annual convention of the Kerala Management Association here last evening, she said Austria was ready to share its technological 'know-how' with suitable partners in India.

Stating that her country specialised in machinery making, Dr Stafan-Bastl said this could be explored as a possible area of cooperation.

Austria, which received 24 million tourists last year, was a major tourist attraction in Europe and could work with states such as Kerala, which were focusing on tourism and ayurveda, she added.

Giving an instance of growing cooperation between the two countries, she said she would inaugurate a joint venture here today between an Austrian and an Indian company to manufacture spices and food flavours.

Globals Inc CEO Suhas Gopinath, recognised as the world's youngest web-developer at 14 years and the world's youngest CEO at 17 years, was a special guest.

AP to press for cheap gas

Hyderabad, May 9 (UNI) Approving formation of the Krishna-Godavari Gas network for laying gas piplines, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today resolved to demand royalty in the form of gas from the Centre and put conditions to protect the state's interest before giving permission to gas explorers to lay pipelines. The Cabinet decided to press for gas from RIL to existing 2000 MW gas-based power plants on or before June 2008 and another 2000 MW gas-based plant expected to be commissioned at.....

New airport gets ECB funds for expansion programme

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) Keeping with the schedule for comissioning the Greenfield international airport by March 2008, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, (GHIAL), today executed financial agreements today for raising Rs 718 crore from Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Andhra Bank and Vijaya Bank. Make a statement on Rs 35,000 cr banks' scam: BJP asks FM

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra (BJP) today sought a statement by Finance Minister P Chidambaram on news reports over a Rs 35,000 crore scam involving, among others, ten foreign banks, politicians and terrorists. Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha during zero hour, Prof Malhotra said according to the reports bureaucrats and builders were also involved.
