800 delegates for Indian History Congress

Kozhikode, Mar 9 (UNI) As many as 800 delegates from India and abroad are expected to participate in the 67th session of the Indian History Congress (IHC) beginning here tomorrow.

Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan would inaugurate the three-day event, to be hosted by the Farook College, Principal A Kuttialikutty and IHC general secretary B P Sahoo told reporters here.

State Industry Minister Elamaram Kareem, Education Minister M A Baby, Prof Ganapathi Subaiah (Santhiniketan), Prof Iqbal Hussain (AMU), Prof Rajat Kanta Rai (Viswabharati), Prof Ratneswar Mishra (Mithila University), were among the dignitories who have confirmed their participation, they said.

Panel discussions, seminars on different topics by experts, exhibitions, book release and cultural activities would be held as part of the programme, they added.

AP Govt committed to reservation for Muslims

Imphal, Feb 27 (UNI) The Congress was the first party to open its account in Manipur with its president Gaikhangam reelected from 54 Nungba AC constituency. Mr Gaikhangam defeated his nearest rival Gangmumei Kamei (Independent) by a margin of 5000 votes. While Mr Gaikhangam got 11,552 votes, his nearest rival Gangmumei bagged 5893. LDF govt politicising universities: FUEO leaders
