22 Shiv Sainiks arrested for protesting professor's love affair

Indore, Mar 9 (UNI) Twenty two Shiv Sainiks were arrested before they could blacken the face of Patna-resident Professor Matuknath, who came into limelight for his love affair with Julie.

Prof Matuknath and Julie had come to participate in a programme organised by a magazine here when Shiv Sainiks were waiting outside the venue for blackening the face of the Professor and his beloved.

The Shiv Sainiks had decided to oppose Prof Matuknath for his allegedly behaving in a manner against Indian culture. The Professor reached here last night and would stay here for three days.

Prof Matuknath had also been invited in a 'Fag' programme organised on March 3 but was not granted permission by the administration in view of protest by some organisations.

He had then announced that he would come to Indore to slap on the face of those protesting love.

40 sovereigns of gold robbed in Seshadri express

Eluru, Mar 9 (UNI) Two women passengers were robbed of nearly 40 sovereigns of gold by an unidentified youth on the Kakinada-Bangalore Seshadri express at Nidadavolu railway station, near here, last night. Power supply to increase in rural areas: Chouhan

Shivpuri, MP, Feb 25 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said power supply will be increased in rural areas in future upon increase in power generation. ''Transformers will be installed and new lines will be laid in rural areas to curb transmission losses besides providing better quality,'' said Mr Chouhan, while addressing an election meeting in this district, which comes under Gwalior Lok Sabha constituency. Stern action against supporters of LTTE: TN DGP

Chennai, Mar 9 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) D Mukherjee today warned stern legal action against members of political parties or independent outfits lending support to the outlawed Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). Giving details of action taken so far against those who tried to supply arms to the banned militant organisation, Mr Mukherjee in a statement here said, ''stern legal action will be initiated against anyone who directly or indirectly offers support to the liberation tigers,.....
