22 Shiv Sainiks arrested for protesting Prof Matuknath

Indore, Mar 9 (UNI) Twenty-two Shiv Sainiks were arrested before they could blacken the face of Patna-resident Professor Matuknath, who came into limelight or his love affair with Julie.

Prof Matuknath and Julie had come to participate in a programme organised by a magazine here when Shiv Sainiks were waiting outside the venue for blackening the face of the Professor and his beloved.

The Shiv Sainiks had decided to oppose Prof Matuknath for his allegedly behaving in a manner against Indian culture. The Professor reached here last night and would stay here for three days.

Prof Matuknath had also been invited in a 'Fag' programme organised on March 3 but was not granted permission by the administration in view of protest by some organisations.

He had then announced that he would come to Indore to slap on the face of those protesting love.

Mulayam dubs UP poll schedule too long

Lucknow, Feb 21 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today welcomed the announcement of seven-phase state assembly poll in the state, but said the election process was too long for the comfort of people, political parties and officials. 8 nominations filed for Rajnandgaon by-poll

Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, Mar 9 (UNI) Eight candidates have filed their nominations so far for the Lok Sabha by-election in Rajnandgaon constituency of Chhattisgarh where polling is slated on March 29, official sources said. The ruling BJP and the main opposition Congress had announced the names of their candidates yesterday. However, they did not file nomination today and were expected to do so tomorrow. The last date for filing nomination is March 10. The by-poll was necessitated as sitting BJP MP.....

CM seeks votes in Valtoha, blames SAD for rise of terrorism

Valtoha, Feb 21 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today sought votes from the electorate in Valtoha constituency for Congress in the name of peace and development while blaming the SAD regime for the rise of terrorism in the state. Addressing a series of election meetings at Rajoke, Valtoha, Dhoot and Khemkaran in the Valtoha assembly Constituency of Amritsar district for February 24 polls, Mr Singh said ''the Shiromani Akali Dal is mainly responsible for the black days of terrorism.....
