2004 Jnanpith Award for Kashmiri poet Rahman Rahi

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The prestigious Jnanpith Award for 2004 will be conferred upon eminent Kashmiri poet Rahman Rahi for his contribution to Indian literature.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Jnanpith Selection Board, chaired by writer L M Singhvi.

Rahi, born in 1925, has been the recipient of other awards, including the Padmashri and Sahiyta Akademi.

Rahi's notable works include 'Nauroz-e-Saba' (The Morning Zephyr) and 'Sanaweni Saaz, besides two other books on literary criticism 'Shaar Shinasee' and 'Kashir Shayiree Ta Wazunk Soorati Hal'.

Parliament to discuss General Budget next week

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Lok Sabha will take up for discussion the General Budget and Demands for Grants next week and pass the first phase of the Budget by March 15, Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi said today. He told mediapersons here that the Railway Budget, followed by the General Budget, would be taken up for discussion in the Rajya Sabha next week. While the Railway Budget would be passed next week, the General Budget would be passed.....

Justice Bali New CAT Chairman

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Justice V K Bali who retired as Kerala High Court Chief Justice six weeks ago took over as Chairman of the Central Administrative Tribunal yesterday, officials said today. ''He assumed office as Chairman CAT on 8th March,'' a statement by the Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Ministry said. As a practising lawyer he was elevated as a Judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in March 1991. He served as a Judge in Rajasthan High.....

Delhi to have museum on Bhagat Singh

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her government will build a museum dedicated to Bhagat Singh this year, which is his birth centenary. Addressing a rally organised by All India Jat Mahasabha, she informed that the state government would also erect statue of Maharaja Surajmal behind the Red Fort and one of Raja Nahar Singh in Chandni Chowk.
