Two constables kill selves

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 8 (UNI) Two police constables committed suicide today in tribal-dominated and naxalism-affected Bastar division while a third constable died of malaria, the police said.

Mizoram Battalion Constable Falta Kima (38), posted in Dantewada district's Konta, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound from his service rifle at a camp this morning. The motive was unclear.

Bastar district (also the name of the division) police Constable Magan Devangan hanged himself at his residence here. He was ill for the past few days and on leave.

The third constable, of the Chhattisgarh Police's Fifth Battalion, died while being rushed to the Maharani Hospital from the local Kangoli Training Centre.

EC asks UP for list of people provided with security cover

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today asked the Uttar Pradesh Government to provide a detailed list of people who had been provided with security cover. According to EC sources, the State Government has been asked to provide this list on district wise basis by March 13 to the commission. Shajapur, MP, Mar 8 (UNI) One person was arrested and 240 gm smack, worth Rs 2.5 lakh, was seized from him, from this district's Badaud bordering Rajasthan, police said today. ''On a tip-off, Vikram Singh Saundhiya was arrested last night while returning from Dag in Rajasthan and 240 gm smack was seized from the box of his motorcycle,'' Inspector Ajay Verma said.
