Two arrested with 43 kg charas

Jammu, Mar 8 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today seized 43 kg of charas being sent to Gujarat and arrested two people at Hira Nagar in Kathua district, official sources said.

Charas worth, Rs 43 lakh in the international market, was seized from a Tata Sumo, coming from Srinagar, SHO Hira Nagar Askok Singh told UNI.

A woman, Roshan Akbar Ali, 55, and her son-in-law Sajid, 38, were also arrested. During preliminary investigation, they revealed that the consignment was being taken to Gujarat, he said.

Four brothers get life term for murder

Raipur, Mar 8 (UNI) A fast-track court today handed down life imprisonment to five people, including four brothers, for gunning down a transporter in May 2006. Additional District and Sessions Judge Arvind Verma held Abrar Ahmed alias Madari, his brothers Bachchu, Noora and Bafani and Sunil Bhalkar guilty under different sections of the Indian Penal Code.
