Major fire at BMC godown in Andheri

Mumbai, Mar 8 (UNI) A major fire broke out in two godowns of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), at Andheri in western suburbs here, during wee hours today.

Fire brigade sources said at around 0400 hours, fire broke out in Gali Number 8 and 9 in which the corporation had kept seized wooden material belonging to hawkers.

The cause of the fire is not known, the sources added.

Gandhinagar, Mar 8 (UNI) BJP MLA Ramilaben Desai was suspended for the day by the Speaker of Gujarat Assembly Mangaldas Patel for obstructing proceedings of the House for more than 30 minutes. Ramilaben, who was suspended from the party earlier, was protesting against non-inclusion of her name and that of the Congress MLA Dr Rashida Patel in the official invitation for the International Women's Day celebrations being held today. Advani flays CM for aggressive industrialisation

Nandigram, Mar 17: Senior BJP leader L K Advani today ridiculed the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government for its 'aggressive' industrialisation programme through 'forceful acquisition of farmland'. Lioness gives birth to fours cubs

Junagadh, Mar 8 (UNI) In a rare event, a lioness gave birth to four cubs at Javantri village, situated between Talala and Jamvala, near here. The lioness had taken refuge in a sugarcane field, where she delivered four cubs recently. The villagers yesterday informed the forest officials, who brought a cage and trapped the lioness and her cubs. They were taken deep into the forest and released, sources said. Usually, after the incubation period of 110 days, a lioness gives birth.....
