Lions death probe to be exhaustive: official

Junagadh, Mar 8 (UNI) The Gujarat Government could seek help from any quarter, even from the CBI, into the mysterious death of two lionesses and a cub, P N Roy Chowdhury, Principal Secretary, Forest Department said here today.

Mr Chowdhury, who visited the place where the carcasses of two lionesses and one cub was found on March 3, said that even a special investigation by FSL could take at least 15 days.

Mr Chowdhury told UNI that presently a state CID team is conducting an inquiry into the incident. He said this was the first such incident when the lions were killed for their claws and nails.

''We will go to any length and are ready to seek any help from any agency to get to the bottom of the affair,'' Mr Chowdhury added.

However, no one has been caught so far for causing harm to the lions. Rs 50,000 reward has been announced by the forest department to anyone giving information on the perpetrators, but no clue has come so far.

Two police personnel suspended in Bihar
