Lawyers killed in mishap

Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, Mar 8 (UNI) Two advocates attached to the local bar were killed in an accident at Eraichalkulam Village near here today.

Police said Parthiban (30) and Prabhakaran (31) were proceeding to Nagercoil on a two-wheeler when they dashed against a speeding mini bus in which both them were killed on the spot.

SAD candidate all set to win Beas assembly seat

Amritsar, Mar 14 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Manjinder Singh Kang had established an unbeatable lead of 4,183 votes over his nearest rival and sitting MLA, Jasbir Singh Dimpa of the Congress in Beas assembly constituency of Punjab. According to the Returning Officer of the constituency, 669 votes locked in a Electronic Voting Machine (EVMs) were yet to be counted. The EVM had developed some technical fault and the counting would be resumed after the fault was rectified, the officer.....

Lucknow, Mar 14 (UNI) Samajwadi Party general secretary and state PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav will file his nomination papers for the Jaswant Nagar seat tomorrow for the forthcoming assembly elections. Younger sibling of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Shivpal is the first senior political leader to file his nomination papers for the assembly elections in the state. Amritsar, Mar 14 (UNI) The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) won the Beas assembly seat, with its candidate Manjinder Singh Kang had defeating his nearest rival Jasbir Singh Dimpa of the Congress by a margin of 4,183 votes in a 12-cornered contest. SAD wrested the seat from the Congress to take its tally to 49 seats in the 117-member Assembly. BSP issues 'appeal' ahead of UP poll

Lucknow, Mar 14 (UNI) BSP today issued an appeal to the electorate seeking an end to the 'goonda raj' of the ruling Samajwadi Party. Former chief minister and BSP national president Ms Mayawati chose to issue an appeal instead of releasing the customary manifesto for the seven-phase assembly poll.
