Karnataka Govt to auction excess land near International Airport

Bangalore, Mar 8 (UNI) Karnataka cabinet today decided to auction 408 acres excess land acquired for the Bangalore International Airport near Devanahalli to realise over Rs 2000 crores.

Briefing newsmen after the cabinet meeting here, Medical Education Minister V S Acharya said land would be offered in public auction in lots of 50 acres and 25 acres It would also issue guidelines for utility aspects to the prospective buyers keeping in view the air space safety, he clarified.

He said the cabinet also cleared the wine policy on the lines of one existed in Maharashtra. The cabinet also decided to encourage production of Fenny and Neera.

The cabinet also cleared a proposal to construct 20 helipads in various places across the state besides five airports at Gulbarga, Raichur, Mysore, Hassan, Shimoga and Kushalanagara, Mr Acharya added.

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Centre has declined the request of many states seeking its assistance in implementing the Right to Information Act and told them to meet the statutory obligations from their own funds. New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The government has decided to re-tender for development of a trans-shipment port at South Bay in Great Nicobar Island in view of poor response to the Global Expression of Interest, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
