It's music to ears as AIR releases CDs of great musicians

Chennai, Mar 8 (UNI) All India Radio (AIR), which had a very rich collection of recordings of great musicians and instrumentalists in their archives, today released the archival recordings in the form of CDs and cassettes for the benefit of music lovers.

Akashvani Sangeet CDs and casettes of great masters of Carnatic music -- T R Mahalingam (flute) and Maharajapuram V Santhanam (Vocal)-- were released by Music Academy President N Murali at a function organised by Prasar Bharati and AIR here this evening.

Dr N Ramani, National Artist, received the first copies of CDs and cassettes. The function was followed by a carnatic vocal concert by eminent vocalist P Unnikrishnan.

Several organisations in Pondy celebrate Women's Day

Puducherry, Mar 8 (UNI) Several organisations in the union territory of Puducherry today celebrated the ''International Women's Day'' (IWD). In a function held here by the Legal Service Authority of the union territory women police personnel, women judicial officers, advocates and members of Self-Help Groups participated. Three elderly passengers from Queen Mary 2 hospitalised in Kochi

Kochi, Mar 8 (UNI) Three elderly passengers aboard 'Queen Mary 2', the largest cruise ship in the world, which berthed off Kochi for a day, were admitted to a city hospital following cardiac and other problems. The three male tourists, one from the UK and two from Australia, were admitted to the Medical Trust Hospital here yesterday. Their condition was stable and the treatment was continuing, hospital sources said today. The cruise ship left for its onward journey to Dubai.....
