HP government orders transfer of four officials

Shimla, Mar 8 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh government today ordered transfer of four HAS officers in the state, official sources said.

Lokayukta Deputy Secretary Layak Ram Negi has been transferred and posted as Project officer ITDT Rekong Peo in Kinnuar district, while SDM Nichhar Subash Chand Saklani has been posted as Lokayukta Deputy Secretary.

The sources said Assistant Commissioner to Kinnuar Deputy Commissioner R R Verma has been transferred as SDM Nichar, whereas ITDT Project Officer at Rekong Peo Sukhdev Singh has been transferred as AC to Kinnuar DC.

The orders would be implemented with immediate effect, the sources said.

No nominations filed in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, Mar 12 (UNI) No papers were submitted on the opening day of filing of nominations today for the by-election to fill one seat each from Punjab and Haryana in the Rajya Sabha. The last date of filing of nominations is March 19. Scrutiny will be held the next day. The last day of withdrawal of candidature is March 22, polling, if necessary will be held on March 29. The by-elections were necessiated due to the recent deaths of sitting.....

Awards to MP panchayats for women's uplift

Bhopal, Mar 8 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that awards would be given to village panchayats that organised separate women's gram sabhas for solving women's problems and attained a 50:50 gender balance. ''Women's reservation in civic bodies, teachers' posts and the police are steps towards empowerment,'' he said at the Ravindra Bhavan here while addressing a state-level programme to mark the International Women's Day. 13 alternate identity must for electors in LC poll: EC

Hyderabad, Mar 12 (UNI) Election Commission today notified 13 alternate mode, along with elector identity card for voting in the forthcoming Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Elections from the Graduates and Teachers' Constituencies slated on March 17. The Commission said voters for the Graduates and Teachers Contituencies for the Council poll should carry one of the 13 instruments in case they did not possess the voters identity cards issued by the Commission during the Assembly polls in 2004.
