HCL launches Non-stop series Leaptops in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Mar 8 (UNI) HCL Infosystems Limited launched its new range of notebook computers featuring the revolutionary Embedded Control and Continuity (EC2) technology named ''HCL Non Stop Series'' today.

Speaking at the launch, George Paul, Executive Vice President, HCL infosystems said that EC2 technology is first of kind in the world and research has suggested that 90 per cent of all problems with computers are software related that include accidental deletion of critical data,software corruption or virus related system crashes.

He said that for anyone concerned with safety of his data of computers, EC2 enabled leaptops are self healing computers that are able to recover all data in less than a minute in case of a system crash or accidental loss of data, the user can itself reload the data without the help of a system engineer.

EC2 technology developed by HCL's research and development division automatically stores and updates a complete image of its own working state at regular intervals which included all data, software and user data, residing inside the computer at any given point of time. EC2, fastest self healing computers recovers complete PC data in less than a minute, he added.

The new Non-stop-series of leaptops are in ready available in all major cities of Gujarat has prices starting from between Rs 27,990 to a lakh depend upon various models.

HCL is the only company manufacturing laptops in India in their units in Puducherry and Uttarakhand.

Tata takes over Rawmet

Kolkata, Mar 08 (UNI) After Corus, Tata Steel in accordance with its definitive agreement last month has acquired 100 per cent of equity stake in Rawmet Industries Private Limited (Rawmet) at an enterprise value of Rs.101 crore. This is the second 100 per cent acquisition of Tata Steel Ltd in Orissa. In September 1991, Tata Steel took over the Ferro Alloy Plant in Bamnipal. GSM subscribers grow to 115.3 mln in Feb'07

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The booming telecom sector has achieved another landmark, with the country's GSM subscriber base touching 115.3 million in February, up by 4.9 million from 110.5 million in January this year. ''It is the GSM industry that is primarily responsible for powering the overall growth of the telecom sector and is a key contributor in the 200 million milestone reached by the telecom sector as a whole in February,'' said Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI).....

ISD tariffs to dip 10-15%

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The rift between state-owned telecom services provider BSNL and TRAI over reducing Access Deficit Charge (ADC) is likely to benefit consumers with the international long distance (ILD) call tariffs set to dip 10-15 per cent from April. Consumer organisations and private telecom service providers have been fighting with BSNL to reduce the ADC to one-third of its current level (Rs 3,335 crore) to between Rs 1,000-1,600 crore.
