German spy arrested in Pakistan

Islamabad, Mar 8 (UNI) A German spy has been arrested and shifted to Islamabad by a Pakistani intelligence agency for a further probe into his alleged links with foreign militants.

The News quoted sources as saying that the German national was being interrogated in Islamabad.

The mystery deepened further over the arrest as the German Embassy yesterday decided not to speak about the issue after issuing contradictory statements for the last two days, the newspaper said.

The alleged German spy is being questioned here for his links with network of foreign militants he traced in the Wazirastan tribal agencies.

His possible links with other spy agencies are also being investigated amid reports of foreign channels that the CIA was moving more personnel and equipment to Pakistan to help in the hunt for Osama bin Laden and his deputy Ayman-al-Zawahiri.

The German national was arrested when he was returning from tribal areas after spending one-and-a-half month at a training camp of foreign militants. It has been learnt that the German Embassy believes their national, Michal Peuna, has mysteriously 'disappeared' in Pakistan.
