Four constables suspended after criminals escape

Koderma, Mar 8 (UNI) Three prisoners escaped from the district jail here on the Ranchi-Patna road (NH 31), in Jharkhand's Koderma district last night, police said today.

Four constables were suspended in this regard, senior official sources this evening said.

Arvind Raut, who has more than 40 cases of kidnapping and murder against him was lodged in Bihar and Jharkhand jails, alongwith two of his accomplices. They escaped by cutting the rods of their cells.

Around eight days back, Arvind was shifted to the district jail here from Hazaribagh Central Jail on remand.

The authorities realised this morning that the accused had slipped out and immediately sealed all escape routes.

All neighbouring districts have been alerted following the jail break.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police expressed their concern over the incident and held jail authorities concerned responsible for the jail break.

Nearly a year-and-half ago, Arvind was arrested by a CID team in Kolkata and he was handed over to the Hazaribagh police.
