Former MLA's son shot dead in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Mar 8 (UNI) The son of a former MLA was shot dead by a criminal following a scuffle at Chakradharpur in Jharkhand's Chaibasa district today.

Police said Laxman Hemboram was the son of former MLA Sukhdev Hembrom.

Police nabbed the assailant from the scene of crime, about 30 km from Chaibasa, and identified him as Ratan Kiu.

Laxman had noticed Ratan inside a bus and immediately rang up his body guard. As Laxman's aide reached the spot, the duo tried to catch him.

In the scuffle, Ratan snatched the pistol from the guard and shot at Laxman, Superintendent of Police Sudhir Jha told UNI here on phone from Chaibasa.

Laxman was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, Mr Jha said.

He, however, ruled out any gang's involvement behind the killing, adding Ratan was a criminal.

India, Cuba to cooperate in renewable energy

Four constables suspended after criminals escape

Koderma, Mar 8 (UNI) Three prisoners escaped from the district jail here on the Ranchi-Patna road (NH 31), in Jharkhand's Koderma district last night, police said today. MHA directs naxal states to step up coordination
