EC asks UP for list of people provided with security cover

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today asked the Uttar Pradesh Government to provide a detailed list of people who had been provided with security cover.

According to EC sources, the State Government has been asked to provide this list on district wise basis by March 13 to the commission.

Apart from this, the Commission has also directed the UP Government to provide the list of all such people having criminal cases against them who were in the election arena. This should also be provided with district wise status and the information should reach the Commission on or before March 13, said EC sources.

Estimated 15 per cent polling in MP byelections till noon

Bhopal, Mar 8 (UNI) An estimated 15 per cent of more than 26 lakh electorate exercised their franchise today till noon today in the by-elections to Gwalior and Sidhi(ST) Lok Sabha and Udaypura Assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. According to official sources, polling in 2,749 booths was progressing peacefully amid tight security arrangements. Burnt counsellor shifted to New Delhi for treatment

Jabalpur, Mar 8 (UNI) A counsellor, who was set ablaze by a patient at the local Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Medical College Hospital over a trivial issue on March 6, has been sent to New Delhi for treatment via air ambulance. ''On the instructions of the state government, counsellor Sanjay Shrivastav was sent to New Delhi in air ambulance called from there,'' Collector Sanjay Dube said.
