Director MNR Medical College arrested

Sangareddy, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 8 (UNI) Police today arrested MNR Medical College Director Vasu Varma for his alleged involvement in the attack on a local TV channel crew few days back.

Police said vigorous search was going on to nab another Director Ravi Varma. Vasu Varma would be produced before the court, they said.

A local TV channel reporter and his colleagues were allegedly attacked by the Directors of the MNR medical college a few days ago while covering the alleged irregularities of the college.

Media organisations have demanded the arrest of the Directors and the government had assured to take action against the culprits.

EMU train services from Tambaram to Chennai Beach affected

Q-Branch arrests 3 in iron balls smuggling case

Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, Mar 8 (UNI) As part of its efforts to crack down the gang which attempted to smuggle iron balls, meant for arms manufacturing, and Hawala money to Sri Lanka, the Tamil Nadu Q-Branch police have arrested three more persons, including two Sri Lankan nationals from Chennai.
