Daily ATR flight on Kochi-Agatti sector from July

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Alliance Air has announced the introduction of a new daily service between Kochi and Agatti in the Lakshadweep islands from July.

This will more than double the capacity offered by the wholly-owned subsidiary of Indian (Airlines) on the sector.

The recent development of the airfield at Agatti has facilitated the operation of 48-seater ATR-42 aircraft.

The flight will leave Kochi at 1150 hrs and reach Agatti at 1315 hrs. The return flight will leave Agatti at 1335 hrs and arrive at Kochi at 1500 hrs.

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) has announced the availability of three million Euros for projects supporting the development of markets for renewable energy and energy efficiency. It has put forward an open tender seeking projects from priority countries--China, India and Brazil-- and from across the developing world. The REEEP projects are meant specifically for emerging market economies like India. REEEP has previously disbursed 2.2 million euros in 2006 and 1.1 million.....

EC bans release of prisoners on parole in UP

Lucknow, Mar 10 (UNI) Election Commission has banned release of prisoners on parole in Uttar Pradesh in view of the seven-phase assembly election starting next month. According to an EC directive today, prisoners could be freed on parole only after taking approval from the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) with condition that they would not participate in the election process. Congress leader arrested in Beas poll code violation

Amritsar, Mar 10 (UNI) Amritsar district Congress president Sukhjinder Singh Lalli was the arrested by the police for violation of the election code of conduct in the Beas assembly constituency this evening. Confirming the arrest, a police official said that the Congress leader violated the code of conduct by remaining in the constituency after campaigning ended last evening.
