Gwalior: Constable killed on poll duty

Gwalior, Mar 8: A constable was gunned down by his inebriated colleague while on election duty at Datia district's Softa village that falls within Gwalior parliamentary constituency where polling is scheduled today, the police said.

Datia's Superintendent of Police M K Mudgal suspended Head Constable Kedar Singh Kushwaha in this connection. The accused Suresh Kushwaha was arrested yesterday for murdering Constable Radhelal Jatav and his service rifle seized.

Head Constable Kedar and Suresh were drinking yesterday evening at the house of the former's relative. Suresh went to Constable Jatav who was residing elsewhere in the village, entered a dispute and opened fire killing him on the spot.

A polling centre has been set up at Softa.
